We have just harvested some radishes. They are small, but if they grow too big they become astringent.
When I harvest vegetables, not just radishes, I try to put them into the water as soon as possible. As well as keeping the mud off, I think it keeps them fresher for longer.
Most of the radishes you buy in supermarkets come with the leaves still attached. So I also store them in the fridge with the leaves on after picking radishes from our garden, which I think allows them to stay fresher for longer.
The radish leaves can be eaten as well as radishes. I often pickle them. They are delicious too!
Yesterday, I chopped the pickled radish leaves into small pieces and added them to fried rice.
